Narellan Pools in the Community
At the core of Narellan Pools® is a philosophy of making a difference and giving back to the communities we operate in; locally, nationally and internationally. Owners, Chris and Debb Meyer believe if everyone shared the philosophy of giving back, the world would be a better place.
Our Philanthropic Purpose is; “We fund and lead education and support programs for Aussie women and children.” We believe although we are the lucky country, there are so many people struggling in every community around the country, especially women and children.
It’s about the privilege we have as people “who have” to give to the people who “have not”. To make a difference to people less fortunate, to create the foundations for growth not only now, but for generations to come. Driven by the belief all women and children should have the opportunity to achieve their potential and personal version of success and happiness. Narellan Pools® commitment to remaining ethical whilst contributing to economic development and improving the quality of life of communities they operate in is a focus and passion. Chris and Debb have also been recognised individually as a franchisor and manufacturer for their work in social responsibility.
Below are the two core charities we support at a Head Office level:
Warwick Farm is 90 minutes out of Sydney and right on the doorstep of our humble beginnings in a chicken shed in the suburb Narellan over 45 years ago. Warwick Farm is one of Australia’s most disadvantaged communities sadly known for its 3rd generational unemployment, drug and child abuse, domestic violence and teen pregnancy.
Our team gets involved with the women and children in many ways including; leadership training, coaching and mentoring, food, toys and clothes donations, but our most rewarding and successful involvement is with Project Strive.
Project Strive focuses on girls aged 12-16 years old living in Warwick Farm, who are at risk of disengaging from school, family and community. Project Strive equips the girls with knowledge and life-skills to make informed and better life choices. It creates a safe haven for them to engage with leaders and provides a consistent, supportive relationship from both peers and professional case workers. This means improved literacy and numeracy, less time on the streets or in potentially dangerous environments for the girls leading to increased self-esteem and confidence. Ultimately, this raises expectations of their future, particularly around employment which will change their lives.
Over the last 4 years of the program, we have seen our girls literally transform before our eyes. The most incredible success being the creation of generational change as the girls now become leaders for their families and peer groups. We are so proud of our girls and the leaders of Strive.
Narellan Pools® Head Office are proud supporters of the Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney located at Westmead, a new 60 room state of the art house.
Ronald McDonald House is a ‘home away from home’ for seriously sick children and their families as they undergo treatment alleviating some of the practical burden that childhood illness imposes on families.
Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney offers guests a warm, light filled homely comfortable stay for 1360 families each year. Together they can give each other the moral and emotional support to get through their child’s illness. They can form relationships with other parents who are going through same or similar experiences and staff and volunteers will provide care and support throughout the stay, no matter how short or long.
The Narellan Pools® Head Office Team are actively engaged in the charity, including participating in Ronald McDonald House charity events and “Meals from the Heart” where they cook for the families.
At a Franchise Level
Multi award-winning franchisees, Danny and Fiona Harvey, are true leaders in our community with their commitment to making a difference. After witnessing the effects cancer had on their goddaughter and cousin, the couple from Illawarra wanted to give back to the community. They felt being part of Narellan Pools gave them the ability and opportunity to do so. Every year Illawarra radio station i98FM host the Camp Quality Convoy, where the community drives together led by police escort to raise funds and awareness for children living with cancer.
Narellan Pools together with Danny and Fiona provide the major prize, building a pool for a family. As well as having a personal connection to the charity, Danny and Fiona felt it held close to the values of Narellan Pools, whose vision and philosophy is “we bring dreams to life.”
Together they have been active ambassadors and supporters for Camp Quality for eleven years, raising much needed awareness and funds for the organisation.
