Why You Should Include A Swimming Pool In New House Plans

Poolside Lifestyle

If you’re building a new home, you want to make sure it has everything you need for the family to enjoy today and into the future. Although many people dream of having a swimming pool in their backyard, too often, they dismiss the idea when they’re working on plans for a new development, and it’s put in the “too hard basket”. In fact, this is the best time to plan and implement your swimming pool installation.

There are so many benefits to having a swimming pool installed at your new home or a knock-down rebuild. Of course, you have the usual benefits – pools are great for entertaining friends and family, they keep you cool in summer, and they are fantastic for exercise. But adding a pool to your new design is much more than that. One of the biggest benefits of timing your pool installation with your new home or rebuild is designing your landscaping to suit. You have a blank slate to work with, which allows you to build a pool that not only fits your lifestyle and budget, but also helps you to create the dream backyard oasis.

Reasons To Add A Swimming Pool To Your House Plans When Building New

While most people arrange the installation of a pool years after the home has been built, there are actually numerous reasons why you should consider the inclusion when you’re starting on a new build. Here are a few of those:

Easier access. Fibreglass swimming pools are transported directly from the factory, and the shells are one single piece. If your backyard is hard to get to, you’ll need to arrange for cranes and other machinery to get the pool into the space. In Australia, access to backyards in new land estates is becoming more limited as land sizes shrink and housing footprints grow. In some areas, new dwellings can be just 450mm from the property line, which leaves very little (if any) space for a mini excavator. By installing the pool during the build process, it can be laid down before the house itself is built.

No future construction work. Installing a pool in a landscaped garden is a complex process. First you have to remove excess dirt, cut down any trees or remove tree roots, and then of course, dig a hole. Including a swimming pool into the home’s original design saves you from doing this down the track. You can simply include it into the initial land-clearing, which will not only save you time, but also save you from having to dig up your yard twice.

Save money. Having your pool installed at the time of construction will also save you money. This is particularly prevalent if the site becomes hard to access during the build. Aside from the points mentioned above, you may not need to pay for extra soil removal as this could be used for other purposes during the build. You also won’t need a crane to lift the pool over a house; and if you’re planning on concrete, tiles and turf, you can get this as part of a package deal for the rest of the landscaping – buying in bulk is always more affordable.

Save time. To start with, you won’t need to wait around for the council to approve your new pool design – it’ll be approved during the general house development application process. You also won’t need to wait around for the pool installation, fencing and decking to be complete before you can move in – everything will be set and in its place, ready for you and the family when you get the keys to your new home.

Get the pool you want. One of the best reasons to get a pool installed before you build the house is so you can ensure you’re getting the pool you want. Your pool design, shape and style don’t have to be based around the space you’ve got to work with. Instead, you can do the opposite. First, decide the type of swimming pool you want, and the size, and then you can choose where it’s going to go and how the house design will work around it.
